HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?

I picked up my first camera in 2005 and have been shooting ever since.

WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU?

I don't know anyone who loves shooting weddings more than me. I would actually be willing to place a sizable bet on that. What this means for you is that you will be hiring someone who loves what they do and that same passion is what is going into every single frame that I shoot. My goal is ensure that you have the greatest day imaginable and that you can watch it over and over again forever. 

WHEN AND WHERE DO WE GET TO SEE OUR VIDEOS?

Teaser video on Facebook in 24 hours (unless you don't have a Facebook, then I will email you the teaser). The rest of your videos will be available to view 1-2 weeks after your wedding date. Your videos will be uploaded to Vimeo.com for you to view, share, and download in HD.

DO YOU WORK ALONE?

Yes. I no longer offer packages that includes a 2nd person. Some wedding companies offer a 2-3 person team, but I do not. If you are planning on having separate groups getting ready before the ceremony, I'll be with one group and then with the other. More info on why I work solo.

WHAT KIND OF INPUT CAN WE HAVE ON THE VIDEO? CAN YOU RECREATE ANOTHER VIDEO WE'VE SEEN ONLINE?

I invite special requests (example: jewelry passed down from generations, special speech prepared, etc.), but I won't recreate another videographer's work from Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Being creative is what I love most about this job and you'll get my best work if I can do just that. 

WHO IS THE CLIENT?

The couple getting married are the only clients. And maybe a mom. But just one.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED THE COUPLE ALONE FOR CREATIVE VIDEOS?

I work closely with the photographers all day long, so whatever time they have allotted for creative pictures is the same exact time I need. 

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT WILL YOU BRING WITH YOU?

I bring multiple cameras, an assortment of lenses, three tripods, and one very cool drone. I have actually managed to figure out a way to pack everything into one rolling case, one backpack, and one longer bag for the tripods. 

HOW MUCH FOOTAGE DO YOU TAKE AT A WEDDING?

I take anywhere from 1-3 hours of footage. This is then edited down to a 4-7 minute highlight video with all the best parts of your day. The 1-3 hours includes your entire ceremony and all of the reception events.

IS THERE FOOTAGE YOU DON'T USE? CAN WE HAVE IT TOO?

I use the absolute best footage that I captured during your day, which means the rest of it didn't meet my quality/technical/artistic standards. That being said, if there was a shot that you didn't see that you thought I probably captured, please let me know and I can get it to you.

DO YOU SHOOT IN COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE? OR BOTH?

Every shot I take is in beautiful color. All black and white shots that make it into your HIGHLIGHT film have been made that way during the editing process.

WHO WILL ACTUALLY SHOOT THE VIDEOS?

I always plan on being there. Only in the case of an emergency would there be a substitution, but this has yet to happen.

DO YOU OFFER A SLOW-MOTION VIDEO BOOTH AT THE RECEPTION?

I do not, but I think they are awesome.

WILL YOU COME SCOUT OUT OUR LOCATIONS?

I'm sorry, but my schedule of shooting and editing won't allow it. I'm very accessible via phone and email.

CAN WE MEET YOU AND HANGOUT?

I can Skype or FaceTime with you. I actually quit doing face-to-face meetings quite a while ago. It's all about efficiency really. I was already doing Skype calls with all of my clients outside of the state and they worked wonderfully. I'm also committed to a very fast turn around time and that's possible in part because of Skype.

CAN OUR GUESTS AND FAMILIES TAKE THEIR OWN PHOTOS AND VIDEOS?

Of course. I wouldn't have it any other way. I've never run into an issue yet, but if someone did interfere or were ruining a great shot, I would kindly ask them to move. You could also consider an UNPLUGGED WEDDING?

WHAT'S AN UNPLUGGED WEDDING?

Ask all of your guests to leave their phones in their pockets and their cameras and iPads at home. It not only makes the photographer and my job easier, but all of guests are then free to smile with no camera-blocked-faces in your videos. More info about having an UNPLUGGED WEDDING.

WILL WE LOVE HOW WE LOOK IN OUR WEDDING VIDEOS?

I sure hope so! Unfortunately, body image issues seem to be more common these days. While I work to capture everyone at their best, I believe addressing one's self esteem will go further than any makeup, pose, or photoshop. CLICK HERE and WATCH THIS.

WHO OWNS THE COPYRIGHT TO THE VIDEOS?

The Videographer shall own the copyright in all the videos created. The Videographer has the right to use the videos, without compensation or notification to the client, in any of the following ways: reproductions for the clients and both client's families and friends, for the Videographer's portfolio, samples, self-promotions, entry in videography contests, editorial use, advertisements promoting the videographer or partnering vendor, videographer's website, any partnering website, for display within or on the outside of the videographer's studio, on a blog, in an app, social network, or any media not yet invented.

BUT WHAT IF I DON'T WANT YOU TO USE MY VIDEOS?

Promotional use of the videos is how I get new business. I also like to win awards and get published. It's extra motivation for me to do my best. If you really want to approve each use of the videos or have them all kept private, let me know your concerns and we'll sort it out.

SO WHAT ABOUT THE CLIENT'S USE OF THE VIDEOS?

An exclusive personal use license is granted to the Client to reproduce, print, modify and/or display the videos provided by the Videographer to the Client for non-commercial purposes. The client will receive High-definition, non-watermarked, edited, color corrected digital videos (not the RAW footage). The client shall not sell said videos or falsely represent the authorship of the videos. The client agrees to include "Video by Brett Rostykus" or "Video by BrettRostykus.com" with any video or set of videos published publicly: on the internet, Facebook, blog, etc.

CAN WE HAVE THE RAW FOOTAGE?

No. The "RAW" footage is the file right out of the camera. These files are actually in a "container" that is separated from the audio until it is ingested into video editing software. This insures maximum quality during the editing process. 

ARE THERE ANY PLACES YOU WON'T GO?

No. I'm still waiting for a couple to fly me to the moon. Here's hoping!

CAN WE HIRE YOU?

Subject to availability, most likely, yes! I'll pass on opportunities that put restrictions on my creativity, such as if you want me to reproduce another videographer's work.

WHAT'S REQUIRED TO RESERVE YOUR SERVICES FOR OUR DATE?

Booking a date does require signing a contract and making a deposit equal to a 1/3 of the package total.

WHAT TYPES OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept payments online via credit card. Or, if you prefer, you can mail me a check or cash. Please note that your date will not be reserved until I receive a signed contract and the first deposit.

HOW SOON SHOULD WE RESERVE OUR DATE?

As soon as possible. If I have your date available...DO NOT DELAY. No date is held for anyone, for any length of time, without a signed contract & payment.
